Darwen juniors up for top football club award

DARWEN Rangers Juniors FC have been nominated for the football club of the year prize at the 2012 FA Community Awards.

The awards aim to recognise and reward those individuals across the country who make a difference to grass-roots football in their community.

Darwen MP Jake Berry has congratulated the club on the nomination.

He said: “The awards are a great way to reward those unsung heroes who have given up their free time to enable children to play football.”

Around 170 people will attend the ceremony, including football legends Ian Rush, Pat Jennings, and Sir Geoff Hurst.

The Rangers will travel to the awards ceremony at the Wembley Hilton on October 12.
