Pensioner rescued from lift in Whalley

A PENSIONER had to be rescued from a broken down lift at a Whalley care home.

Firefighters were called to help release the man from the lift at The Croft Rest Home, in King Street, at around 9.15am on Saturday.

Watch manager Dave McGrath who covered the incident, said: “The lift had malfunctioned so we used a lift key and worked the mechanism.”

The man is understood to have been in his seventies.

Mr McGrath added: “The man was trapped for around 15 minutes, but he was in no distress at any time.”
