Clayton-le-Moors man jailed for breaking partner’s arm
6:00pm Friday 21st September 2012 in News
‘BINGE DRINKER’ William Lowe
A MAN who broke his partner’s arm by pulling her out of a chair has been jailed for a total of 12 months.
‘Binge drinker’ William Lowe, 32, who struck within weeks of being given a suspended jail term, left victim Trina Kellett with her arm in plaster and needing pain killers.
He was arrested, and denied causing the injury deliberately, Burnley Crown Court was told.
Lowe, said to have a history of domestic violence involving police call-outs by previous partners, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, on April 19.
The defendant, of Queen Street, Clayton-le- Moors, has in the past breached an anti-social behaviour order, and has served time in prison.
Jane Dagnall, prosecuting, said Ms Kellett had had a volatile relationship with the defendant.
But she had never called the police to any previous incident.
Judge Beverley Lunt, who activated the 10 months of the suspended jail sentence, told the defendant he caused a nasty injury.
She told him: “You have to be careful, because you are heading for being declared a dangerous offender if this carries on. When you come out, you have got a clean slate. You need to start behaving.”
