There is a simple way to stop this!

Once caught, and when found guilty in a court of British Law, the punishment should be simple:

- hung, drawn and quartered

Why do we use prisons as a way of punishment!! They dont work!!

Surely they must at least have descriptions of the vandals by now?? It happened two days ago.

Sadly, as more of these incidents take place I find myself agreeing with the lunatic above.

I also fear the time has come to police our own streets.

People have got to be made to account for their actions. The Corporation Park Friends group have worked so hard to try and get this beautiful building restored and this is just a huge set back. This isn't mindless vandalism, this is spiteful and malicious. Pride needs to be restored (or introduced) to signifiant sections of Blackburn's youth and adult population. There are a lot of people here who still have pride, but unfortunately, actions like this chip away at the town's image, and just help push along the exodus of decent hard working people.

Named and shamed? Whats the betting that they're too young to have their names released? They should lower the age of criminal responsibility as kids are much more streetwise earlier on than they used to be years ago, so as we can name them.
Then bring back stocks for anyone, irrespective of age, and humiliate them in the town centre!

This story is so sad as Corporation Park is a fantastic place - one of the most beuatiful parks in the Uk. The Police must find these morons and the courts must name & shame them as well as handing down the severest punishment possible including Community Service to help improve the Park they have damaged so much.

This needs positive action. Can I suggest 1) make all parks out of bounds after dark - it is not necessary to be in a park after dark. 2) Police could employ (i.e. without cost) special constables in the evenings to take up observation - perhaps from inside the conservatory. Radio as and when necessary for the cavalry. Then its up to the Courts to take action (hopefully) the offence being complete by being found in the park.

It is becoming an everyday occurance for the low life to commit crimes such as this. Hoping the CCTV footage will identify the idiots so that justice can prevail.
MAKE THEM PAY OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS, but if they are underage, claim the money from the parents. Deduct the money at source - benefit money, wages or whatever it takes to ensure that those responsible PAY.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to release photographs of these idiots, so that decent people know who they are.
They spend their time wrecking decent structures etc, put more pressure on the Police re all the paperwork and will probably get away with it - we should not let this happen - hit them where it hurts - their pockets.

Instead of 100 hours community payback, why not 1800 (or roughly a year full time which would equate to the 10k) now that would be payback. A few token hours is not payback in my book. they ought to realise that half an hour of 'fun' takes someone a long time to work to pay for, why should it not be them who has to do that work?

I cannot find the words to express my thoughts about the actions of these few people, who have wilfully attacked a beautiful landmark building of the park.
Some years ago, I was part of a group that fought against the permanent closure of this arboretum, which is it's proper name, since it has full grown succulent trees growing in one of it's wings.
What was the point of smashing up the statue of Flora? It has stood there for longer than many of the people of this town have lived, only to be destroyed by people with no moral compass. How can you justify such utter and complete acts of stupidity?
Corporation Park was a place of leisure to working classes that only just gained the leisure time, that you take for granted, after working a six day working week. Those self same people that contributed from their own low wages to support the park in many ways. From it's very inception it was a place for all people, not just a select few.
What you have done is to stir up more hatred and loathing towards those of your age group. Who would employ someone from your area, after you do this kind of thing?

It is a civic duty of anyone that knows of whom did this to step forward and make sure that they are brought to justice, to show that you may live amongst them but that you are not like them.

Probably what the nasty yobs who did the damage already knew - nobody would see them unless CCTV was up and running and has captured the act of vandalism. You seem to find a solid family environment and religious belief are a recipe for a good person. I just thought I'd give a few examples of how wrong you really are.

the council wont struggle to find the money, take it out of the new youth zone budget, simple.

they can`t say they were "bored we aint got nofin to do av we" they have a multi million pound youth club.

You are naive beyond child like. I witnessed a trainee solicitor who stated fact to me. I could not act on this because he was not picked up directly from the address but nearby and at no point divulged said address. Otherwise I would have gone straight to the police.
