Farm plans opposed by North Turton Parish council

NORTH Turton Parish Council has objected to plans to demolish an outbuilding at a listed farmhouse and add a two-storey extension.

It claims plans for Orrell Fold Farm on Moorside Road represent “over-development of the site”.

Owners Mr and Mrs J Stannard want to knock down the double-height outbuilding and replace it with a two-storey and basement stone building with a link to the existing Grade Two listed detached farmhouse.

Blackburn with Darwen planning officials have described the outbuilding as “unattractive” and say the proposed extension would “not harm the significance of the listed building”.

They recommend the planning and highways committee approves the application on Thursday.

The officials add that care must be taken to ensure that the stonework and other visible items such as mortar, window frames and external finishes must conform to the style of the listed farmhouse.
