Cathedral to give youngsters an insight into chorister life
4:31pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in News
A CHORISTER recruitment day is being held at Blackburn Cathedral on Saturday, September 29.
Children from school year groups 3-7 and their parents are invited to come and see if the cathedral choirs are for them.
The event will be conducted by director of music Samuel Hudson, who said the day was intended to give youngsters and their parents an insight into what was involved in joining one of the choirs.
He said: “They can learn about everything the choir does, including tours, broadcasts and fun outings. But what is also important is that they get a musical education for free.
The format for the day starts with registration at 1.15pm, followed by a presentation and workshop sessions. The afternoon ends with a service of evensong with all children taking part.
Anyone interested is asked to reserve a place in advance by contacting Linda Bruce on 01254 503082 or linda.bruce@blackburn cathedral.co.uk
