Alleygates plan in attempt to combat crime in Darwen

PLANS have been launched to install crime-stopping alley gates behind several residential streets in Earcroft, Darwen.

Blackburn with Darwen Council wants them at the rears of 145-157 Blackburn Road (odds), 2-46 Hollins Grove Street (evens), and 3-31 Clarence Street (odds). The council has installed the lockable gates in several shared alleys across the borough, and said it helps to curb flytipping, vandalism and littering.

How about building a cage somewhere secluded to put the problem children in and allow the fly tippers to throw their rubbish in as well. Problems solved!

But seriously, how about solving the problems first rather than making normal people pay to protect themselves from the uncaring?

Get them up on the back of Laurel Avenue in Darwen, first, seeing as that is where the last lot of money for gates ran out. The rest of the area has them and the difference is there for all to see.
