Why are countil tax defaulters allowed to let the bill accure? I remember years ago, that I failed to make one payment on time and through my letter-box came the demand, even though I had paid well before the letter arrived.
Do people just ignore red letter demands? Are they that confidant that they are going to get away without paying?
If only 1 payment is missed, the council should pounce immediately, not allow the arrears to mount and mount. How many chances are people given?
I resent having to pay my council tax bill on time, only to find that others do not.

I'm sure they haven't. I'm one of those who "agreed terms": I refused to pay Council Tax in the middle of the month when I get paid at the end: the arugment went on for a couple of months and their system only gives you two "chances" even if the infringements happen in different months. They don't even check their own systems properly: they issued papers the day after I paid the outstanding instalment....... Needless to say, we have now reached a mutually accpetable compromise.
