PCSO discovers cannabis factory in Little Harwood
10:00am Saturday 8th September 2012 in News
A CANNABIS factory was discovered yesterday after a passing police patrol smelt cannabis coming from a house in Blackburn.
PCSO Sarah Wilson was on foot patrol when she noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the property in Beardsworth Street, Little Harwood.
Officers raided the home and found 21 plants in an upstairs bedroom. The plants have now been seized along with cultivation equipment including lights and fans.
A man is now being interviewed in relation to the find.
PCSO Wilson said: “The smell was so strong I contacted the office and we were able to obtain a search warrant.
“It was a fairly sophisticated set up. The plants were fully matured and would have an estimated street value of £500 each. They had clearly been there for some time.
"Drugs cause misery to the lives of decent law-abiding residents as well as to those involved in the trade and we will continue to act on any information we receive, in confidence if people prefer, so we can take drugs and those suspected of peddling them off the streets.”

Doctors would be able to prescribe one of the most effective medicines that has no serious side effects at all. At the moment the government has given GW Pharmaceuticals an illegal monopoly on cannabis so they make millions out of a medicine that you can grow in your greenhouse for virtually nothing.
If we introduced a legally regulated system we would solve nearly all the problems around cannabis. Science proves how much safer it is than tobacco, alcohol, prescription medicines and all other recreational drugs. If anyone does have a problem with it they could get help without having to confess to a crime.
CLEAR published independent, expert research last year which shows that a tax and regulate policy on cannabis would produce a net gain to the UK economy of up to £9.3 billion per annum.
It is a scandal that our government, our judges, our courts, our police and our newspapers keep misleading us about cannabis. Find out the truth for yourself and wake up to the lies you have been told.

It was obviously causing untold misery if NO ONE had reported it? What a load of rubbish, yet another blanket statement suggested all drugs are as bad as each other and there's a dealer on every corner.
I say this every time I see this kind of report... What does society prefer, someone minding their own business on a Friday night, having a smoke at home, behind closed doors or the town centre on a Friday night, full of drunken louts being sick into the street and fighting???

Some drugs, cannabis included, cause great *joy* to decent, otherwise law-abiding citizens. Of course there are dangers, but that's what education and tight regulation are for, not blanket prohibition, which actually increases the danger.
