12:59pm Wednesday 5th September 2012 in News
A FORTIES classic is showing at Darwen Library Theatre later this month.
The 1947 picture, My Wild Irish Rose is being shown courtesy of Darwen Library Theatre Film Society.
Starring Dennis Morgan and Arlene Dahl, it was nominated for an Academy Award in 1948. The plot is based on the life of American-Irish tenor Chauncey Olcott and chronicles from his childhood to his days as the toast of the big apple.
In between, his rise to the top is complicated by romances with two women: his true love Rose Donovan and stage star Lillian Russell, who wants to make him a star. Entry is £3 on Tuesday, September 25 at 2pm.
