Group can help East Lancashire families become foster carers

EAST Lancashire families wishing to foster can take advantage of a new charity launched in the county.

Community Foster Care in Lancashire is managed by Emma Weaver, who previously worked for the adoption team at Blackpool Council, and specialist children’s counsellor Anne Bone.

Emma said: “Anne and I met during my time with the adoption team, and we know how vital good foster placements are as part of a successful adoption process.

“Foster carers need excellent support and training to help them in their work.

“If they get that support, the child’s experience is more likely to be extremely positive, and if adoption is the next step, a positive fostering experience makes it much more likely that the child’s adoption will be successful.

“There is a desperate shortage of foster carers.

“We are looking for people of all ages who feel they have something to offer children who need love and support through difficult times.”
