Man breaks arms falling from Blackburn roof
7:16pm Saturday 1st September 2012 in News
A 35-year-old man has fallen 20 feet through the roof of an industrial unit in Blackburn.
The man is understood to have been working on the roof of the building, in Pearson Street, and cleaning some of the gutters when he put his weight on a section that was not load bearing.
Firefighters were called to help break into the property and to help move the casualty at around 4pm today.
Watch manager Dave Hilliard said: “We think he hit some of the roof supports on his way down because he had a massive cut on his head.
“He landed on his arms and has broken both of them and we suspect he has spinal injuries too.
“Once the paramedics stabilised him and gave him some morphine, we assisted in moving him to minimise any further injuries.”
The man was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

Hope the people in the plaster room think of joining both the casts together, leaving a space for a mug of tea or pint glass! You will have to provide your own drinking straws, our Fracture clinic is a bit strapped, if you pardon the pun.
Get well soon.
