Blackburn man's call to end BB postcode insurance ‘victimisation’ (From Lancashire Telegraph)

I's just an example of rip-off Britain where anything related to the financial sector is wholly unregulated by act of law and is just an excuse for printing money at others expense.

I buy the bare minimum of cover that the law requires in 3rd party cover.

We all know why insurance premiums have gone up in Blackburn but nobody dare come out in public and tell it as it is ! That's the P C society we,ve now got..

The whole insurance industry is in need of a complete overhaul. Their weasel worded policies are a rip off. I don't just mean car insurance. I find the some of the questions asked are very intrusive and then they sell all your details on.

Yes they slam on in front of you for no apparent reason. Well apart from you to run in the back of them, so they can claim for them and there lots of occupants. BB1 is one of the highest in the country.

The only thing that will happen is everyone elses insurance will be brought up to BB levels, you won't see it drop off. More money to be made from the cornered saps.

i wouldn't rely on that ingformation doing any thing for i sent photographic evidence of the women driver (who turned into a man when the claim came through )the fact none of the kids were strapped in their car seats did it do any good no they just pay out cause its cheaper to charge us more than fight the case

BB9 does not fare any better when it comes to high premiums. One insurance company I tried wasn't interested when I gave him the post code! One roundabout in Pendle is rated the third in the country for scam accidents. About two hundred yards from it is an accident claim office. I will leave it to your imagination as to who owns it.

How do I get to sign the petion.I live in bb1.this guy is great to go to the paper brilliant.Hope we can get some refunds aswel!!

Car insurance seems expensive but 40 years of insurance payments at £800 is a total of £32 grand. One accident can easily cost an insurer more than that.

Seriously?! All of the issues are down to a minority of individuals? Similar to the banking system that's been abused by what you could call 'indigenous' members of our society, people are exploiting the system. Correct the system, make it tougher to make ridiculous claims. Yes, I am what some of you would call a 'minority', and I share your frustrations the same. I am no better off than you and have the pay exactly the same prices.

I've been a victim, where one driver, then became + 4 passengers with whiplash, on a steep hill, lashing with rain, sudden braking in front of me, for no reason. I was in 3rd gear doing about 25 mph, surprisingly they were Asian...

I think people also need to consider that the comparison websites take on average 24% of your premium.

People think they are saving money but ultimately it has to be costed back in.

Statistics speak for themselves, you cannot get away from the fact that this is without a doubt mainly people of Asian origin, they find it easier because they have people working in such positions as the doctor who examines them after such supposed accidents. There needs to be more colaboration between insurers with people being flagged as offenders and tougher sentences for these insurance theives, any doctor found to be involved in such deception should never practice medicine again.

I have done the same in my fiat 500 twinair. I am going to ride round all day and film bad driving and parking in the railway station morrisons area, and send all the evidence to the council. Then they can send fines through the post to all these maniac driving criminals. I ask only for petrol expenses. The amount of taxi drivers picking up fines and points will be astonishing. I will also follow high end high power vehicles to see if I can gather any drug dealing evidence as well. I may get a community award for my efforts to clean up this town.
Will you be doing the same? we could be the new starsky and hutch?

I agree with DT... i intend to fit cctv to my car but I'm thinking it will just confirm that you did actually run into them... but i think what it would be good for though is if they switch driver and an old colleague told me about his horror story at the Rose Grove (can't remember it's name) roundabout... the driver didn't change or passenger number increase but the car did! it was only because he'd taken down the car reg that the insurance investigators found they were claiming for a much more expensive car to be repaired... the ethnicity is irrelevant but they were Asian and they were prosecuted. What puzzles me is how you go on with GPS based insurance.. if it charges you extra for sharp braking.. does that mean that avoiding accidents you didn't cause, ultimately costs you money? can the system distinguish between good and bad drivers or is the digital output of accelerometers and a GPS tracker the final word?

The system I got, is only 30 quid and only records. However if you invest in a roadhawk, similiar to what my brother has, that has gps location details, g force sensors and also records whilst the car is off (if battery gets low on car, it cuts off aswell) those systems cost upto £200, but will provide details on how much force the car came into collision with in front, or another car hittin yours, will provide precise gps location details.

The black box insurance, judges your driving over a period of time, my cousin has it and he has already reduced his insurance in a year by £200.

when i last looked GPS was only good for plus or minus 10m accuracy.. that's wider than the road... you just know the legal profession will use the element of doubt to their advantage... i wish court cases were televised like Judge Judy :)

My husbands car insurance went up £300 this year when it should go down.. we put my mums postcode in for curiosity and we could of saved £700 .. bb postcode insurance is stupid and needs sorting out the bad guys and not taking it out on the good guys

It would be a fairer system if they used more letters and numbers from the postcode instead of just the first 2 letters and a single number.

Or they could charge people with british names less and asian names more then the asians who were doing the crash for cash scams would pay more and the asians who were innocent would possibly be able to "persuade" the guilty ones to stop it as they are giving all the asians a bad name.

How about you jail all the politicians for the expenses scandal until they all learn for the mistakes of a minority? And whilst your there send all the bankers to the same fate.

This should be an adult conversation, you live in a democratic society where the law of the land is thankfully not based on race, colour or creed and should have no place in our society.

However, i think what Rob is trying to achieve is commendable and hopefully with the support of Jack Straw (whether you like him or not he has pull) this can gain some momentum. The whole system needs an overhaul to provide fair premiums to the genuine, and for those that do have histories of Road Traffic Accidents punish/penalise them appropriately.

Benjis mum - the point you made was to raise the insurance premiums of everyone with an Asian name! How can that not be discrimination and/or stereotyping? I hope something does get done about this, but some of the suggestions on this page do not work in a democratic society; more in regime's that our country is fighting against eradicating.

I'm not saying I have the answer, but that's why we elect politicians to make such decisions on our behalf. It's why we pay some of the highest rate of taxes in the EU. If anything, the failure of the current system lies in their hands and pressure needs to be applied on them to take action, which is the whole point of this article.

Its not discriminating to make the community that is causing the problem pay for it and to reduce the premiums for the communities that arent causing the problem.
Its easy to do using the statistics of the accidents/claims and seeing which community is doing the scams.

The innocent ones would then stop the guilty ones from comitting the scams and their premiums would quickly come down to the same price as everyone elses.

Isnt it fairer to do that than to charge everyone too much in order to perpetuate the scams that only benefit a few asians.

I just had to stump up a bloated insurance premium even tho' I've had decades of accident free driving. I was told that even tho' I live in the quiet law abiding backwater of BB5 everyone who lives in the BB postcode area is being penalised for the actions of some Blackburn rogues.

Post codes have always been used to cost insurance so the insurance companies are doing nothing different. It's just the demographic's of race have changed in the area with a correlation of claims. I am sure this would also correlate to increase claims of racial hatered, violence on white ingenious population by people of Pakistani origin, drug dealing and prostitution, aswell as underage sex gangs/rings.

I don't agree with the work Asian being used to describe the people who are mainly involved with this crime, this offends Chinese and other people from Asia!

These are of Pakistani origin people with limited intelligence and have years less mental development than the western Europeans.

The problem is as i see it a greed issue and a willingness to set-others up. I can see why race is an issue here since that the only crash for cash examples on here relate to when they have hit an asian driver. A friend of mine was a victim of this crime, they claimed an additional 3 passengers were in the car! this sort of culture and selfishness is due to Pakistanis failing to integrate into our western society and carry on to segregate themselves. They use their religion as a barrier and they also play the race card to often. My view is if you feel discriminated go and live in a place where you don't....look at wildlife, you don't see polar bears in Canada or Bears in the North Pole! get me!

Like all other responsible dog owners, I am registered as my dog is chipped. I condemn the irresponsible ones who permit their dogs to foul and dont do anything about it and agree with them being fined for it.

what makes you make them assumptions? assumptions is all that they are and ill-founded.

I can relate to the referrals issue and that Insurance companies have made a business model out of crash for cash. Companies do this in order to sustain and grow their business and will adapt and exploit revenue opportunities.

This discussion is mainly centered on post code differences and the root cause, to which i have replied what i feel is a deeper social problem to why people can feel justified in actually committing this type of fraud on other people with the flat vindication of who they are and who they target to get the claim against.

I have just moved from Gloucester back to BB5 and notified my insurance broker of change of address. I was horrified to find that my insurance had gone up from £230 to £470 with the same company. How can you justify this increase. I have no option but to pay up. When I asked why the increase,I was told, a certain group of drivers were making claims in the BB5 area. I have contacted my broker to no avail. It looks like another post code lottery scam.

Obviously in these circumstances you are going to claim (I’m only telling you what happened to me).

I realise that you seem to be a bit hard of thinking, presumably because your parents are probably first cousins and from other comments you have made you have been brainwashed from birth to belive in myths, fairytales and fantasies, but can you not see the difference between responsible dog owners condemning irresponsible dog owners and innocent asians condoning the criminal actions of some members of your community.

I dont know why you keep comparing dog fouling to insurance fraud.
Dog fouling is unpleasant as it can cause people to step in it and possibly slip or they may tread something nasty onto their carpets when they get home but no one makes any money out of it nor does it cost anyone anything.
Insurance fraud costs everyone a lot of money so that a few asians can make a lot of money out of it.

Like you I too was subjected to brainwashing as a child by my school but fortunately not too much by my parents. When I was mature enough to start to think for myself, at around the age of 11 or 12, I soon realised that all religions were man made and had caused problems all over the world for millenia and so I became an atheist.

As I said earlier I was originally being brainwashed into christianity, the church of england variety, most english people of my generation were in those days. There were a few in my school who were of an alien religion to the majority of people in england but apart from not attending assembly for morning prayers and preferring to eat fish instead of meat on fridays, no one really objected to them being catholics.

I havent really got much interest in arab/israeli affairs, as long as it doesnt affect us too much. I tend to think that people should live by the laws of the land that they live in and not try and force their ideas and customs on their host nation. Nor should they send suicide bombers into crowded places or fire rockets into a neighbouring land indiscriminately to try and provoke a reaction to encourage more nutters to become suicide bombers.
Unfortunately the muslims seem to bring their problems over to the west and ask for our help in such places as Iraq and Afghanistan, which costs lots of our brave lads and lasses their limbs and lives along with a lot of money which most english people would prefer to be spent at home, instead of on some uneducated backwards people who then complain when we help you to regain control of those countries.

I read an interesting article in one of the newspapers today about reintroducing the indigenous red squirrel to the west country and culling the more recently arrived grey ones that were outbreeding the red ones and they had brought a disease with them that they were immune to but which killed the native species.

How strange that what happens in the animal kingdom so often happens in the human one and vice versa.
If you look back to the Spanish killing the central american indians off with diseases that they had no immunity to and then becoming the dominant population by sending more and more spaniards over then by out breeding the natives.
Then the europeans who went to north america and initially killed a lot of indians off with smallpox then by taking over their lands and eventually through mass immigration and again outbreeding the natives, became the dominant population.
Australia and New Zealand did the same with the Abos and Maoris.
North America is going through the same mass immigration process again but this time with the Latinos fast becoming the dominant population by outbreeding the mainly european descendants.
