Rawtenstall bar makes application to stay open until 5am

A RAWTENSTALL bar has applied for a license to sell alcohol until 5am.

The Queen’s Arms Hotel, on the corner of Bacup Road and St Mary’s Way, currently only serves until 3.30am on certain days of the week.

Rossendale Council licensing chiefs will decide in September whether or not to grant permission to landlord David Welford.

Mr Welford said he hoped the later opening hours could offer the people of the Valley something different. He said: “So many people leave Rawtenstall to go on nights out in Burnley, Blackburn and Manchester.

“Hopefully by opening later we give them that option of staying here. Vogue nightclub in Bacup Road is doing really well so I hope things start to pick up here too.

“Obviously Madison’s has shut this week too but the more places that shut the more reason people have to leave.”

Currently The Rhythm Station, which is re-opening this weekend as Barbarella Piano & Live Lounge, holds the only 5am licence.
