Mug shots handed out to beat Great Harwood shoplifters

MUG shots of known shoplifters will be handed to shop owners in Great Harwood in a bid to cut the number of thefts.
Pictures of known thieves are being circulated by officers so they can be on the look out and regular meetings will take place between officers and staff to help reduce the risk of theft in stores.
Shop’s taking part in the Shopwatch scheme will also feature a warning signs, highlighting the partnership work taking place between the police and the retail sector in the town. It is hoped the scheme will reduce the number of thefts.
PC Helena Saile said: “Shoplifting, theft, robbery and other crimes can have a really detrimental effect on the local economy.
“Shopwatch is aimed at preventing incidents from happening and catching those responsible quickly when a crime does occur.”
