FOOTBALL enthusiast Anne Ellwood, of Bold Street, Accrington, carried the torch in her home town.
As she ran into sight she was cheered on by members of Accrington Girls and Ladies Football Club.
Anne, who believes the sport helped her beat a life-threatening illness as a teenager, carried a picture under her shirt of her late parents John and Mavis Day who passed away 10 years ago.
She said: “It was absolutely unbelieveable. The amount of support from the crowds was fantastic. This is something I will never forget. I carried the picture of parents so they would be a part of the special day too.”
