Paul with his grandfather's shirt and cap
THE grandson of a former Blackburn Rovers footballer who wanted his grandad’s memorabilia from Ewood Park has been given it back.
Wattie Aitkenhead played for Rovers from 1906 to 1918, winning two league championships with the club. In 1991, his family donated his cap and shirt from his only international appearance for Scotland, against Ireland in 1912, to the club.
They were on display in the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End, but grandson Paul Aitkenhead decided he wanted them back as he said he was worried about the present circumstances at the club.
Mr Aitkenhead, 57, who lives in London, took back the shirt during a visit to Blackburn last week.
He said: “I would like to thank Sarah Goodman who was very helpful in arranging for the collection to be made.
“Once stability is returned to Blackburn Rovers and the club is back on an even keel, it goes without saying that I would like to return these items to the club on loan.”

There is a distinct difference between donating an item and 'loaning' an item.
This guy is just as bad as Venkys - taking away good memories as well as destroying the future. Soon we'll only have the carcass of a club left.

We have people in Burnley, literally gagging for any BRFC story appearing, with comments allowed, so that they can vent some spleen.
It's truly nice that we add a little sparkle to an otherwise dull existance.

I blame those cheap off-licences .... should be shut down for selling alcohol to minors.
I must say though that most contributions are as usual; slightly of point.
He is making his protest against the current regime and who can blame him .... accept of course jobless, childish, inebriated(that means p1ssed) and as always; jealous dingles.
