Centre for drug addicts in Clitheroe is approved

Planning bosses have given the go-ahead for a drug addicts centre in Clitheroe.

More than 140 people signed a petition against the centre for drug and alcohol misuse in the residential area of York Street close to a nursery and a school.

But voluntary organisation CRI was given the green light by Ribble Valley Borough Council to convert a former office block into the centre, which will house the East Lancashire Drug and Alcohol Team.

The site, which will cater for more than 20 clients a day, will offer a range of support services to alcoholics, offenders serving community sentences and homeless people.

Coun Simon Farnsworth raised concerns about the centre’s location opposite Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Sixth Form Centre and the Rossendale Nursery.

The planning committee was divided about the application with the chairman, Richard Sherras, having to cast the deciding vote.

On Thursday, an application by CRI for a drug and alcohol misuse centre in Nelson town centre will be decided.

Great news for all the people currently on anti-social orders in there own towns,seems to me they are offering a clean slate for the Clitheroe area.Not bad i guess there is plenty of picnic areas cafes and pubs to destroy in that neck of the woods.

Clitheroe is such a scummy town and the Ribble Valley is full of smackheads poncing money off their middle class parents - who practice a "don't touch me, don't invade my personal space, i'm all right jack - leave me alone, english suburban commuter husband's club" mentality.

Oh Noes.. This cannot be happening in my beautiful Clitheroe don't people know that we have no druggies,Alcoholics,
Smackheads,Homeless people in 'Shiney, we are the best' Clitheroe.

Whats the world coming to.. We get a mosque then lidl now a help the people that carnt be assed to lead a 'normal' life centre

Strange that the Davidoff prat is very quick to slag off other Lancashire towns for being full of low-lifes, druggies and also being a dump....but forgets to comment on his beautiful ribble valley.
