JACK Straw today met the mother of Jamie Bulger in Blackburn amid a row over the identity of one of the toddler’s killers.
Denise Fergus and her husband travelled to Blackburn town hall this afternoon for a meeting with the Justice Secretary and Blackburn MP.
Mr Straw would not reveal the nature of the discussions, and would only say: “I can confirm I met with Mrs Fergus, and it was a private meeting.”
It emerged last week that 27-year-old Jon Venables, one of the two 10-year-olds who killed Jamie Bulger in 1993, had been recalled to prison following "extremely serious allegations".
Pressure has been mounting on the Ministry of Justice to reveal his new identity and the nature of the crime he is alleged to have committed.
