TWO people have been released on bail following a suspected hit-and-run which left a teenager in a critical condition.
The collision happened at 11.45pm on Saturday in Springfield Road, Burnley when a black VW Golf hit an 18-year-old man who was crossing the road near the Hollingreave Road junction.
The pedestrian, who is from the area, was left with serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Following the incident a 36-year-old woman from Burnley was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and a 25-year-old man from Burnley was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, driving while unfit through drink/drugs and causing serious injury through dangerous driving.
He was also arrested on suspicion of making off without payment in relation to an earlier incident.
Both have now been released on police bail until July 13th pending further enquiries.
