A MAN who went missing from a psychiatric care home attacked two police officers who where trying to take him back. Blackburn magistrates heard police had been called to Hertford street by members of the public who said Hassan Nathan Lakhlifi had assaulted someone. Lakhlifi, 23, of Fountains Care Home, Pleasington Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two charges of police assault and was fined £80. Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said Lakhlifi had gone missing from the psychiatric facility and was considered a risk to himself and others. When officers approached him he appeared agitated and then kicked out, hitting one of them on the leg. A female officer who went to assist was also kicked. Richard Prew, defending, said it was the third time that week his client had gone missing from the home. "He buys alcohol and drinks it," said Mr Prew. "It seems on this occasion drink has lead him into an altercation with members of the public and the police were called. When I asked him why he had struggled he said he had been drinking and he didn't want to go back."
