A WOMAN who found herself on the wrong side of a bridge on the M65 was rescued by police.
Road closures were in place at junctions six to junction five near Whitebirk roundabout as officers dealt with the incident on the bridge just before 2pm today.
Two off duty police officers helped the 'distressed' woman, officers confirmed.
A road police spokesman said: "We helped a person in distress on the M65."
A motorway police spokesman added: "A female was sighted by two off duty officers on the wrong side of the bridge.
"Swift action has been taken by both Lancashire Road Police and Highways North West with a positive result and the lady is now safe."
