A TOWN centre pub is looking for new licensees.

Admiral Taverns is advertising for people to take over The Adelphi in Railway Road, Blackburn.

The pub is going to remain open until new managers have been found.

It is a year since the Lancashire Telegraph reported that the pub reopened for business for the first time in seven months with Steve Whittle and his wife Diane at the helm as licensees.

Diane and Steve will step down at the end of next week and they did not want to talk about the reasons for leaving the pub.

But they said they have loved the friends they have made.

Diane said: “We want to say thanks to the loyal customers who have stood by us over the past 12 months and we are very sad to go.

“I wish whoever takes the pub on all the best for the future.”

The pub was closed twice in 2016 and after it was refurbished in 2017.

A spokesman for Admiral Taverns said: “The Adelphi pub is a great community hub which benefits from a prominent location in the centre of Blackburn and a strong daytime trade.

“It is currently available for let and Admiral Taverns are looking for a skilled operator with local knowledge and a clear vision of how to take the pub forward.

“Licensees will have the opportunity to introduce a vibrant entertainment offer and make the Adelphi the place to be in Blackburn.”

Cllr Phil Riley, who is the executive member for regeneration at Blackburn with Darwen Council said: “It would be great for the owners to recognise all the positive developments around the town centre and the Cathedral Quarter.

“They need to change their offering and make use and see the benefits of all the developments in that part of the town.”

Admiral Taverns are planning to hold an open day to recruit for the pub vacancies. The company can be contacted, however any interested parties should contact the recruitment team on 01244 321 171 or enquiries@admiraltaverns.co.uk.
