TEN primary schools in East Lancashire failed to meet expected Government standards in 2016/17.
Schools are considered to be under-performing if fewer than 65% of pupils reach the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, or if they fail to make sufficient progress in the three key areas.
The schools are:
Griffin Park Primary School, Blackburn, Blackburn with Darwen
St Aidan's Primary School — A Church of England Academy, Blackburn, Blackburn with Darwen
Sudell Primary School, Darwen, Blackburn with Darwen
St John's Stonefold CofE Primary School, Accrington, Lancashire
St Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School, Stacksteads, Bacup
St Mary Magdalene's Roman Catholic Primary School, Burnley
Clayton-le-Woods Church of England Primary School, Chorley
Colne Primet Primary School, Colne
Nelson St Philip's Church of England Primary School, Nelson
Rawtenstall Balladen Community Primary School, Rossendale
Fall in percentage of good or outstanding schools in Blackburn with Darwen
Across England, 61% of about 600,000 11-year-olds who sat this year's Sats — or national curriculum tests — achieved the Government-expected standard, according to the Department for Education (DfE).
This compares with 53% in 2016, the first year of major changes to assessments.
A total of 511 (4%) mainstream primary schools in England failed to meet the Government's floor standard this year, against 665 (5%) last year.
