A MOTORCYCLIST is fighting for life in hospital after a road crash.
The 22-year-old from Hoghton suffered spinal fractures and head injuries in the accident at Walton-le-Dale at 6.40pm yesterday.
The incident occurred at the junction of Higher Walton Road and Chorley Road.
The motorcyclist is thought to have left the road on his Yamaha before colliding with a building and some metal railings.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
The motorcyclist is said to be in a critical condition at the Royal Preston Hospital.
The road was closed for around three-and-a-half hours.
Sergeant Adam Crossley of the road policing unit said: “A young man is in intensive care following a serious collision and we are determined to piece together exactly what occurred.
"If you saw the crash, or saw the motorbike in the moments before it happened, we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anybody with information is asked to contact 101, quoting log number 1232 of October 17.
