A VAREITY of fun and interesting activities are on offer across East Lancashire this weekend.

Lancashire’s biggest baby event ‘Bump, Birth and Baby’ is taking place at Brockholes Nature Reserve on Sunday from 10.30am until 4pm.

There will be a host of local pregnancy, birth and baby services and retailers providing stalls, free taster sessions, advice and gifts for new and expectant parents.

Taylor’s fun fair has also arrived in Blackburn next to the bus station and will open on Friday from 1pm until 9pm each day until October 29.

The group first brought their attractions to the area in February this year.

Oswaldtwistle will be home to the first ‘Ossyfest’ on Saturday at Hippings Vale Community Centre.

The festival aimed at people with leaning disabilities and their families will take place from noon until 9pm and feature a variety of dance, music and comedy acts.

For anyone planning their big day, the Ribble Valley Wedding show will be held on Sunday at Stonyhurst College from noon until 4pm.

The event by Little White Books wedding company will also feature 60 of the area’s leading wedding businesses, suppliers and venues, plus two catwalk shows.

‘Alternative Ocktoberfest’ will be coming to Holmes Mill in Clitheroe from 7pm on Saturday, as the beer hall hosts its own version of the German celebration.

Beer fans will also be able to join the ‘Guided Real Ale Trail’ when it comes to East Lancashire Railway on Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

A steaming day event will also be held at Bancroft Mill in Barnoldswick on Sunday to give guests a chance to see the mill engine, with its two cylinders and 16 foot flywheel from 11am until 4pm.

However Met Office officials warned people to be wary of weather conditions this weekend.

A spokesman said: “There will be wet and windy conditions across almost all of the UK this weekend.

“Although East Lancashire is not in the peak of that there is still quite a large area of low pressure over the region which will make for a pretty blustery weekend.”
