MORRISON’S flagship store in Blackburn town centre is receiving a major makeover.

Customers were asked their opinions of the Railway Road shop and the company used their ideas to draw up plans for the six-week transformation.

It is the second revamp in two years following a ‘Fresh Look’ refurbishment in 2015.

The works include: a refreshed customer cafe with children’s play area; free Wi-Fi for those customers and Amazon lockers to collect online purchases; a better equipped baby changing facility; a larger World Food section and extra halal products including hot rotisserie chicken; and an expanded ‘Free From’ range specialising in gluten, wheat and dairy free products for customers with allergies to these products.

The store will also feature Morrisons’ new one-stop Party Zone shop,a new laundrette at the front of the store for customers who want to do the washing while in the café; a new community room near the store’s lifts; and improvements to the car park.

Store Manager Simon Hulley said: “We’ve listened to our customers and used what they’ve said as a guide to the changes we’re making.”

He added: “We’re really excited about what the store will look like once we’ve finished as it’ll have something for everyone from the kids’ play area in the café to the community room for groups and Party Zone for families.”
