THE owner of a gypsy site in Darwen has applied to build a four bedroomed house to live in.
Kathleen Young occupies a chalet on the Oakhill Caravan Park on Lower Eccleshill Road near Junction 4 of the M65.
She has now applied to Blackburn with Darwen Council for planning permission to demolish the existing chalet off the above site and erect a detached home.
Her agent Peter Entwistle of PCE Designs in Euxton, Chorley, has sent a design and access statement to borough planners.
It said: “At present the site is owned and run by my client Mrs Kathleen Young.
“My client is located at the far end of the site in a chalet. Mrs Young is in charge of the entire site which is home to a number of gypsy families.
“Mrs Young has now been on the site for a number of years and has now decided that a more permanent building is required.
“We are proposing to demolish the existing chalet and erect a detached four bedroom house on the site, positioned in the same location as the existing chalet.”
The ground floor will have an open plan lounge/kitchen, and dining room. The first floor will consist of four bedrooms and a family bathroom.
"Existing access will remain unchanged.”
