A SCHOOL in Devon has appealed to people in Darwen to help find one of its European students accommodation in the town for a work placement.

Swiss/Italian student Tiziana Ngo, 22, is set to travel all the way from Switzerland to Totnes European School in Devon on Saturday.

She will then swap the picturesque market town for a five-week placement at the Anchor Mill home of fabric firm DHJ Weisters, in Moss Fold Road.

The placement takes place between July 2 and August 5, but due to the 290 mile distance between the two towns, her school has asked people in Darwen for helping in housing the student.

The school, which provides English language courses and work placements/internships for international students, said in an appeal posted by Darwen Town Council on its Facebook page: “We accept students from Europe for lessons and also sometimes for unpaid work placements.

“Usually students are placed in companies in the South West of England but in this particular instance the student requested a very specialised work placement, namely in weaving and fabric manufacturing.

“D H J Weisters in Darwen have been kind enough to accept our student and we are therefore looking for a host family for her.

“Tiziana is 22, Swiss Italian and needs accommodation in or near Darwen from Sunday July 2 to Saturday August 5. We would love to find a friendly host family within a reasonable commute of BB3 0AQ and who can offer half board accommodation.

“I have contacted various colleges and organisations in an effort to find a host family for Tiziana and just wonder if you would be able to help at all.”

If you can help find Tiziana accommodation for a placement, message Darwen Town Council on their Facebook page or call Totnes European School on 01803 868123 or email info@totneseuropeanschool.co.uk.
