THE daughters of former Marsh House councillor John Roberts have set up a JustGiving page in his memory.

They hope to raise £1,500 for the East Lancashire Hospice which helped care for the 61-year-old before his death and has so far raised £670 from 33 supporters.

The former borough and Darwen town councillor, who was the partner of Blackburn MP Kate Hollern, died in February from cancer.

Daughters Faye and Megan say on the page ‘Remembering John Richard Roberts’: “It’s hard to put into words how it feels to lose our dad, John.

“If you knew him then you’ll agree he was a big character and not easy to forget.

“He gave a lot to others during his life and we’d like to continue this tradition by raising money in his memory.

“East Lancashire Hospice provided care throughout dad’s illness and were there for us as a family."
