A SCHOOL in Accrington has been praised for ranking in the top three per cent of schools for pupil progress.

St Oswald’s RC Primary School received the rating for the progress students make between Key Stage One and the end of Key Stage Two in reading, writing and maths.

The school received a letter from minister for schools Nick Gibb congratulating them for their achievements.

It read: “Thank your for you hard work."

Year six children also exceeded the Lancashire and national average percentages for reaching the required standard.
