WELLIES were swapped for wedding bands as the first newlyweds to tie the knot at on a Bolton farm walked down the aisle.

Wellbeing Farm was the unique venue for the nuptials of Halliwell couple Jake and Lana Hughes on Saturday.

It is the first time the Edgworth venue has held an official ceremony since gaining its wedding licence in January.

And of course the day made full use of all the farm had to offer, with a little drama from some dapper llamas who donned bow ties.

Jake said: "We looked at a hotel and other regular types of venue but traditional wasn't really what we wanted. We wanted something quirky and fun and that's definitely what we got! We were really, really happy to get married there.

"Our original idea was to get married on a farm in Australia where we both worked for a while but family couldn't make it, so Wellbeing felt like right choice.

"We had family from as far as Australia, Romania and Germany there, it was great to all get together.

"It was particularly fun having the llamas and donkeys with us on the day. not many people can say they've had llamas at their wedding!"

Jake, aged 27, and Lana, aged 26, first started dating 10 years ago after meeting at a martial arts class. They are now both black-belts and Jake is a full-time martial arts instructor while Lana is a hair stylist at a family salon.

Their ceremony took place in the farm's converted milk barn and Lana was joined down in her walk down the aisle but her three-year-old niece Merida and Jake's six-year-old son Harley.

The ceremony was officiated by a registrar from Blackburn and for their first dance the newlyweds from Hill Top showed off their martial arts skills - with the pair donning robes and boxing gloves and entering to the 'Rocky' theme music before showing off their moves.

Wellbeing Farm owner Celia Gaze was delighted to be there on the day and said the venue had more than 100 weddings bookings for the coming year.

She added: "It was a lovely day and with the weather staying nice it all came together.

"It is a fantastic milestone for the business, to take it this far and transform it from a run-down farm to become a lovely wedding venue is wonderful!"
