A MAN who parked on yellow zigzag lines while he went to pick his two children up from nursery has had his car seized by police.

The black Mercedes-Benz A-Class was left unlocked with its keys in the ignition outside Fairfield Street Nursery in Accrington on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers seized the car when it was found the driver had no licence or insurance.

A police spokesman said: “The vehicle was parked on yellow zigzags outside the nursery on Fairfield Street whilst the male driver collected his two children.

“There are signs clearly warning people of the dangers of parking in this location. In addition, the vehicle had been left insecure with the ignition turned on.

“Needless to say this isn’t something we recommend as part of our crime prevention advice.

“The driver was driving without a licence and no insurance."
