A RUGBY club is looking forward to playing at a new £3million state-of-the-art ground after selling its previous home.

Chorley Rugby Club’s old home Chancery Fields, Astley Village is being redeveloped by Persimmon Homes, with 50 new houses being built.

Tony Callander, chairman of The Chorley Community Trust, which is investing £3 million in developing the Brookfields site on Chancery Road as new community, joint use, multi-sport and leisure facilities.

Mr Callander, former chairman and president of Chorley RUFC, said : “The Chorley Community Trust was established with the prime objective of providing the opportunity for all members of the community to access sport, recreational and leisure activities, hence the trust has appointed a specialist company to manage the construction of our brand new facilities.”

The two-storey Brookfields Pavilion will have a function room, bars, meeting rooms, activity areas and a viewing balcony overlooking the new grass football and rugby pitch, as well as new changing and treatment rooms.

The playing grounds will feature a new full size grass pitch and a next generation 4G multi-sport pitch, both with floodlights. They are due to be ready late next summer.
