The nice little earner, handed over to him by lottery TV presenter Judie McCourt, has come just at the right time for the 48-year-old council gardener.

Not only is his seasonal work coming to an end soon but his daughter is also about to walk up the aisle.

Jason said: “I can’t believe it – I’ve never won anything before.”

His postcode – BB10 1UQ – was drawn as part of the lottery’s Saturday Street Prize game He added: “My job is seasonal and finishes up in October.

“This extra money will really help and I’d like to use some to fix up the house.

“It also might be a good time to pass my motorbike test. My daughter Charlotte is also getting married next year.

“It’s very exciting and now I can make sure it’s an extra special day.”

The Brook household is not the only one in Burnley to benefit from the charity lottery. Earlier this year Place2Be, which provides counselling for children in schools, was given £17,000 towards a recruitment and training campaign.

Judie, after handing over the cheque to Jason, said: “I really enjoyed meeting Jason and presenting him with his big cheque.

“I hope he has a great time spending his winnings and spoiling his daughter on her wedding day.”
