PLANS to create almost 100 homes on former warehousing land in Milnshaw has been cautiously received by residents.

Persimmon Homes has been holding presentations for local councillors ahead of submitting plans to build 92 new homes to Hyndburn Council.

The mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses plus bungalows were discussed at a recent consultation meeting but resident decided to reserve judgement until more detail is revealed.

Developers said that the plans included land in the Marlborough Road area of Laneside.

Milnshaw councillor Paul Cox said the proposal would bridge the right type housing shortage but said full plans would reveal more.

Coun Cox said: “It’s just an outline plan and it’s involved brief presentations. It is the type of housing stock we need so the response has been positive. Without all of the details it is something people are more or less in favour of, so we look forward to the full planning application.

“It signifies a potential huge development and will also affect many residents in the local area “The proposed development is still at a very early stage, with possible adjustments still to be made. However the new developer, working with the sites current owners, arranged a presentation to allow members and officers the chance to see how the site can be delivered.”

The development would use land between Moss Hall Road and Ribblesdale Avenue, currently used as warehousing space by Express Gifts.

The company are said to be considering a move and release of land, but it is not thought that jobs would be affected.

Coun Cox said responses to recent presentations had been positive but that residents would need to see the full details before they gave it their full backing.
