A TEENAGER who died in a road crash in Hapton has left a huge hole in the lives of everyone who knew her, according to her family.

Elizabeth Marsh, mother of 17-year-old Estelle Thompson, who was killed after the silver Ford Ka she was a passenger in hit a wall on Manchester Road, has paid tribute to her ‘unique’ daughter.

And no fewer than three public fundraisers have already been established to help the Burnley family with funeral costs after Sunday’s tragedy.

Remembering the Unity College student Elizabeth, 38, of Lawrence Avenue, said: “She was definitely unique – one on her own. She just loved banter.

“She definitely spoke her mind, whether she hurt your feelings or not. But she was spoilt a little because she was the baby of the family.”

Estelle, who also attended Cherry Fold Primary, studied hairdressing at Accrington and Rossendale College and was interested in fash-ion, beauty and modelling.

Her brother Ben Marsh, 21, and sisters Sadie and Stacey Marsh, 19 and 21 respectively, along with their mother, have been overwhelmed by the reaction to Estelle’s death.

Ben said: “We knew that she had a lot of friends but it’s just overwhelm-ing when you see all the things that have been said of her.”

Stacey also said that members of the close family had been down to the crash site, just outside The Stables, to lay flowers to Estelle, along with a number of other relatives and well-wishers.

Neighbours and friends of the family Kirstie Thompson and Barbara Carroll published a Facebook tribute site and last night there were more than 1,350 members.

Proposals are being drawn up for a sponsored walk and a charity football match. The football match is sched-uled for 1pm on Saturday in Queens Park, with a picnic also planned for the same day, from Exp-ress Gifts at Accrington to Thompson Park in Burn-ley, along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Kirstie said, in laun-ching the site: “This is in memory of a beautiful young woman who never got the chance to experience life.”

The family has confir-med that arrangements for Estelle’s funeral are yet to be made.

Tributes and messages of sympathy have also flooded in on Facebook.
