POLICE have released CCTV images of an Accrington man who has been missing from home for six weeks.
Trevor Whitehead, 51, was last seen in Accrington by a neighbour on the evening of Wednesday April 9th 2014. However, he has failed to attend work or contact any family or friends since.
The images were taken at Skipton Building Society in Barnoldswick where Mr Whitehead had been working. They are believed to be the last pictures taken of Trevor before he went missing.
Two recent possible sightings of Mr Whitehead near to Skipton Train Station have been reported by members of the public.
Sgt Andy Horne said; “We are hoping that these images may jog people’s memories and also give the public more of an idea of what Trevor looks like.
“We remain positive that the recent sightings reported to us could have been Trevor, however, we can’t be 100 per cent certain it was him so the search to find him is still on-going.
“I would appeal to Trevor direct and say if he is reading this appeal, please get in contact with us and let us know you are okay. You are not in any trouble, we are just extremely concerned for your welfare.”
Mr Whitehead is a nature enthusiast, who spends his spare time walking in East Lancashire and beyond. He is a former wildlife photographer and is also known to be a botanist and birdwatcher.
The missing appeal for Trevor has continued support from the national charity ‘Missing People’ who have released a new ‘missing’ poster.
Mr Whitehead is described as a white male, five ft, seven ins, of medium build, with a fair complexion and short grey hair. Before going missing he was last seen wearing either a red waterproof coat or a dark green / camouflage jacket with green wellington boots and a dark rucksack.
The people who reported the possible recent sighting of who may have been Mr Whitehead in Skipton described the man as looking dishevelled, wearing a black zip up jacket, combat trousers, a large back pack and carrying a ground sheet.
