Straw offers advice on Darwen Vale

Lancashire Telegraph: Straw offers advice on Darwen Vale Straw offers advice on Darwen Vale

THE final consultation event over the academisation of Darwen Vale High School is on Saturday, from 11am to 1pm.

It will be the final time for parents to voice their concerns and opinions on the Government’s decision to force the school into academy status.

Darwen’s prospective Labour candidate at next year’s election has offered to represent people’s views at the event.

Will Straw said: “I am holding a meeting with Local Dialogue, the group which is conducting the consultation, later in the afternoon.

“If you are unable to make the consultation meeting and feel strongly about the proposed changes, I am very happy to represent your views at this meeting.

“I have been concerned all along by the prospect of a single provider running both secondary schools in Darwen. To contact Mr Straw, email willstraw4 rossendale.darwen@gmail. com

To right Ossy, you've hit the nail on the head. Hope there's a UKIP candidate, sick of what Labours done to Blackburn, God knows how long It would take them to ruin Darwen If this public school boy takes after his father.

You are obviously clueless about party policy... Will Straw will be there because Labour Policy opposes forced academisation and he's supporting the parents who are having their choices taken away. UKIP support forced academies and selection based on ability to see the good schools get better and the poor schools to get poorer.
Please at least take an active interest before you offer opinion based on ignorance.

Thank-you to Will Straw who turned up today to support parents, staff and members of the local community who oppose Darwen Vale becoming another Aldridge Academy.
