District Nurse Lucy Murtagh was seeing double as she celebrated a second win in eight months on the East Lancashire Hospice Lottery.

Miss Murtagh, of Millwood Close Blackburn has supported the hospice since joining the lottery in 2009.

She scooped the top prize of £1,000 in the weekly draw in August 2013, and was shocked to hear she had won again in the draw held on Friday, April 11.

She said: “I was very surprised to get an answerphone message from the lottery office, and was thrilled when I called back to hear I’d won again.

“I’m so excited.

“I’m going to treat my son for his birthday and save some of it too.”

Lottery co-ordinator Gill Wilkinson said: “It’s always a good part of my week to inform the winners that we have a cheque with their name on after the draw, but doubly nice for Lucy to win twice in eight months.

“It goes to show that just because you win once, it doesn’t mean you won’t win again.

“The draw is completely random so every person has the same chance each week.

“In the last 10 years the lottery has raised an incredible £2.5 million for patient care.”
