DISABLED football fans were able to rub shoulders with their heroes during an annual awards night at Blackburn Rovers.

More than 300 people attended the sold-out Disabled Supporters Club Awards at Ewood Park on Monday.

Children and adults got the chance to meet with and talk to stars such as Craig Conway and Jordan Rhodes during the event.

And it was Rhodes, who has already scored 24 goals this season, who scooped the Player of the Year award for the second successive year.

Youth team goalkeeper David Raya won the Young Player of the Year award and David Dunn was handed Club Man of the Year.

Rovers’ accessibility and safeguarding adults officer Christine Peacock said: “Staff at the club rallied round to ensure our disabled supporters had an evening to remember and it has been great to hear such positive feedback.

“It was a sell-out and party goers, players and staff were overwhelmed by the turnout.

“Thanks to all who volunteered their time to help out at the event, including the AllTogether Social Trust and Sliding Doors.

“I must also say a big thank you to manager Gary Bowyer and the entire first-team squad for attending the event, which remains a real highlight in the club’s social calendar.”
