AN East Lancashire police officer who launched a biker safety campaign in memory of his father has spoken of his gratitude after 15,000 people watched his video.
Insp Dave Mangan, who is in charge of road policing in East Division, wanted to raise awareness of the dangers of riding while tired after his dad Mike, 72, was killed in Somerset when he was involved in a collision with an oncoming vehicle while overtaking.
Mike was on the last 10 miles of a 320-mile journey and his family believes that tiredness was a contributory factor.
Insp Mangan, 43, who lives in Turton and was with his dad at the time of the crash, said: “I would like to thank each and every one of you who viewed and shared the video.
“ I’ve have been overwhelmed by the response. If it reminds just one person of the dangers faced by riding whilst tired it will be a success.” Visit youtube/Wtijm9Sch-E to watch the video.
