Accrington Asda fish slap girl says she's sorry

Lancashire Telegraph: Asda in Accrington Asda in Accrington

A TEENAGER has been spoken to by police after she slapped a supermarket worker across the face with a fish.

The attack happened at the Asda store, in Hyndburn Road, Accrington, as the 52-year-old victim was working behind the fish counter.

The 13-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, picked up a large bream from the stall and hit the worker over the face with it before running out of the store.

The victim believed the incident was being filmed on a mobile phone by a man, who was standing nearby and also ran from the scene when challenged.

Lancashire police officers have now spoken to the girl and she has written a letter of apology to her victim.

Hyndburn borough councillor Peter Britcliffe said he hoped she had learnt a lesson.

He said: “I think this was a very sad incident and it was sad to hear that a 13-year-old was involved.

“But it is good that she has apologised. Hopefully this will be a lesson to her and to others who might do silly things like this.

“It was a dreadful thing and I think we all need to show more respect to each other than we do.

“A lot of people have spoken to me about this incident. People found it quite shocking.”

A police spokesman said: “A 13-year-old girl has been spoken to by officers and has taken part in a community resolution whereby she has sent the victim a letter of apology.”

I bet she really meant it too.

We should have filmed her apologising to the person she did this too and posted it on Facebook/youtube.

I might be wrong but I think the victim has to agree to just a letter being sent and could have pressed charges so they must have been ok with this as a form of punishment.

Lets keep the courts for criminals and not someone who just had a moron moment
