JUST about six months ago, I discovered the refreshment hut with decking area in Poole Park, which I believe is owned by the Boatshed restaurant next door. Since that time, it has been an almost weekly treat for me to visit this place, sit with my coffee and overlook the beautiful lake.
However, I was recently made aware that there had been some issue with the council regarding planning permission for the decking and I readily signed my name on a petition to try and prevent the keep the council from enforcing its removal. This morning I was greatly saddened that the decision has been made and the decking will be removed by the end of this month.
This surely is bureaucracy gone mad; ok, it seems there may have been an issue regarding planning permission, but have the council not seen that this place is used and enjoyed by so many people, including the disabled, as there is a ramp to aid wheelchair users? This morning, every table was occupied. What will we be left with once the decking has gone?
Please Poole Borough Council, reconsider your decision and leave the people of Poole and visitors, this haven of relaxation and refreshment.
