A 17th century pub is set to reopen after a major refurbishment.

The Aspinall Arms in Mitton has been closed since autumn 2012 when landlord Simon Forster, who had been at the pub since 2002, decided to move on.

The new owners, Brunning and Price Ltd, said that up to 50 jobs are being created ahead of the opening on May 6.

The refurbishment will move the focus away from live music and on to dining.

The function rooms have also been moved to face the River Ribble.

Duncan Lockhead, of Brunning and Price Ltd, said: “Everything has gone well so far and everyone is looking forward to the opening.

“Around 50 jobs are being created as part of the opening and we have already found a new head chef and a manager.”
