THE key holder at a Blackburn store was confronted by burglars when he responded to the alarm being activated in the early hours of the morning.

Blackburn magistrates heard within half an hour of the alarm being raised police had arrested four men, two of them carrying rucksacks loaded with clothing stolen from Outdoor Action.

Anthony Robert Clarke, 29, of no fixed address, and James Clarke, 34, of The Salvation Army Hostel, Heaton Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to burglary at Outdoor Action. They were sent in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said when the key holder arrived at the King Street shop he was confronted by an individual leaving the premises carrying stock.

He grabbed the intruder and there was a struggle before he ran off. While he was waiting for the police a second man emerged from a first floor fire exit, jumped down on to a wall and ran off.
