AN impressive cake in the shape of India Mill is being raffled off for East Lancashire Hospice.

Michelle Coulon, 49, made the cake, based on the iconic landmark, for a friend’s birthday. But in the end it was not needed, so Michelle, of Mayfield Flats, gave it to the market to be raffled.

Michelle, who bakes cakes purely as a hobby, said: “It took about 10 days to make. It is fruit cake with a bit of sponge at the top. It had to be fruit as it needs to be sturdy.

“I wanted to raise money for the hospice as I have had a few friends with cancer and I do a bit of work in the hospice shop.”

Raffle tickets costing £1 a strip are available in the Darwen Markets office in the Annexe.
