A MAN was taken to hospital after losing consciousness at the wheel and hitting another car while travelling on the M65.

Paramedics were called to the westbound exit sliproad at Junction Eight, near Accrington, at 2.40pm.

His Renault Clio collided with another car and hit a barrier, before stopping in the hard shoulder of the sliproad.

One lane of the motorway is closed as a result of the accident.
