POLICE closed part of Charlotte Street, off Barbara Castle Way, in Blackburn after a car hit a pedestrian.

A silver Renault Clio struck a 55-year-old man as he was crossing the street at 9.50am this morning.

He suffered a head injury and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he was described as being a stable condition.

The road was reopened after around 45 minutes.
