Ribble Valley naval student to start flight training

AN ambitious budding Royal Navy pilot, from Clayton-le-Dale, has completed the first stage of his training at Britannia Royal Naval College.
Sub Lieutenant Christopher Hindle, 24, embarked on a career in the Navy last November, and has undergone 30 weeks of training before a passing-out-parade, and being formally commissioned as a naval officer.
The former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School student graduated from Manchester University in 2010, and worked as a machine operator in Clitheroe before joining the Navy.
He will now remain at the naval school to begin his specialist training.
He said: “I’ve learnt during the course that the biggest barriers against success are mental ones.
“Standing up to my earlobes in a freezing river on Dartmoor in the middle of January will be one of my lasting memories of my course.
“I now look forward to flight training, and will work hard to be selected for fixed wing aviation as I have an aspiration to fly the new joint strike fighter.”
